It seems as if my AWD transfer case has given up.. I checked the fluid to find there was some metal shavings comming out when I drained the fluid. I'm gonna take it in to somone after the holiday weekend to make sure. I was looking at some threads, and it dosn't seem to be too hard to swap out.. pretty much a Saturday... If I can do it myself I rather do that than pay someone to.. just alittle skectched out about useing a jack to drop the old one and put the new one up there. Anyway I was wondering if anyone was willing to part with one.. A 4404 I think??? If anyones got one for sale for at a decend price let me know! Thanks,
Justin

Hey Annapolis!

Dont use the jack or jack stand for the transfer case, use it to raise the vehicle to give you more room to work under. Then you can just use your legs/arms to brace the transfer case as it slides back and then down.

Germantown!! Not to far way.. What's going on? I'm not gonna get crushed by the transfer case am I?? It's not too big but prob weighs a ton..

No you wont get crushed by it. Just be ready for it and make sure your hands are clean so the transfer case wont slip. Take it easy, no rushes . It slides back maybe 1.5-2 inches (to clear the trans' output shaft) before it comes down so be ready! Oh and try to support its weight as it slides back, you dont want the entire weight of the transfer case to be sitting on the transmission's output shaft.

Ditto, and check on the model year, you need a 98-01 model AWD. If not mistaken I think that the 95-01 was a BW4404, and mine/yours is a BW4403. They shouldn't cost more than $250, good luck.

Ok, that works.. dosn't sound too bad, thanks for the help. Now I just gotta get my hands on a transfer case. Thanks again!

I belive my transfer case is gone.. I was looking to buy a AWD bw case if anyone is selling.. I'm not sure if it's a bw4403 or 4404, I'll have to double check.. If anyone if willing to part ways with one let me know! Thanks!
