I purchased this truck a month a go from a friend. The truck had barley ran over the last year. So once I drove it for a day or two I started to hear some chirping under the hood. I took it into a mechanic and he said Ac compressor was shot and I needed a new belt tensioner. So instead I had him throw in a bypass pulley and new belt tensioner. Car ran well for a few days then the chirping started again. Sounds like the idler pulleys now. Ok had them both replaced and a new belt as well. A few days, chirping again. Thought it might be the alternator next. This time I took it to a alternator rebuilder. He put it on a machine tested it and it ran great with no noise.
I have been reading a thread about cam position sensor. Thinking this may be the problem I took it back to the shop and mentioned it. He does not think it is that but thinks its the water pump. I thought Before I go and throw this clown any more money Im gonna have a second mechanic take a look. the other mechanic had no Idea what it could be and said that replacing the water pump might be a good idea. Before I go ahead with this repair I have a few questions. 1. How long should this repair take. 2. Does anyone think this may be the problem. 3. what are the chances it could be the cam sensor. Thanks for the help.
