Just noticed about a month ago grease starting to show around A/C compressor pulley. It is slowly getting worse. A/C works fine but I see problems down the road. What may be the best solution. This a 1999 4-dr w/5.0 engine and 115,000 miles

I believe the carbon seal is replaceable with the right tools and procedure, but most people just install a rebuilt compressor when they begin to leak.

They do make sealants for the system, but no one I know who is in the business trust that they won't clog small orifices in the system.

Best of luck and welcome to the forum:chug:

Thanks Rick & Corkey - I've had this explorer for a year now putting on 10,000 miles. I know a new or rebuilt compressor is probably the best solution - just trying to get thru summer heat of Nebraska. This is the fourth 1998-1999 Explorer I have had and they are very dependable vehicles.
