We bought this Explorer new and it has been very well maintained. No accidents, no major problems. For the last three years the AC hasnt worked correctly, barely cooling a full refrigerant charge. The heat would only work when it wants to, and only if the temp is on 65, nothing else, it works for a few days then stops for a few weeks. Ive put much thought into this and the way I see it is that there can not be a vacuum leak b/c the heat does work sometimes so the vacuum lines must be ok. Ive been told these control units are notorious for failure. im finally getting around to fixing it, and i am leaning toward a bad blend air door actuator, and the control unit. So I am wondering if anyone has any ideas or know of common problems in this year model and w the electric climate controls.
