Hi guys.

I have been seaching and searching, but i havent got the answer i am looking for. Only something confusing. Maybe im just a retard using the seach function.. :banghead:

Tre size chart sticky does not mention this, but i do have one answer from another thread.. Cant remember where i found it..

But. Here is the deal.

I have stock suspention anf factory 16x7 alloys. According to the only answer i have i should be able to run 285/75/16 on it, with no lift.. Thats what i found, but this seems really big and i really dounbt this can be true.

I am currently running 255/70/16 on the truck and i have to get new tires anywhays, so id like some bigger...

Can anyone tell me the max size when running the 16x7 stock alloy rim?

I can only guess, but what has anyone here put on with success on that size rim and without ant trimming and rubbing.

Thanks!

Ole

sorry about the spelling---

:p: .. The tabs must be small on this keyboard..:p:

That's about equivalent to a 33 x 11.5" tire...most likely will not fit without a lift. A 265/70 is roughly equal to a 31 x 10.5 and without a lift you probably can't go much bigger.

that tire converter thingy.. Im an idiot...

Are they smaller or bigger than the 31´s ? The 265´s ... ?

I´d hate to but that size and then find out they rub or i have some trimmin´ to do..

I really dont want to mess up when i buy the tires and waste all that money. It will set me back about 800 euros (a tad over 1000 dlr´s, these days) . I cant afford making the wrong buy...:(

Anyone has first hand info on this, so I know for sure what to order?

Thanks!

Ole

As far as i can tell, the 265/70/16 is 30,6 inches in diameter. I think i will go for this..

I hope im right.

Thanks guys.

I've been running 265/70/16 on my sport since I got it, but I'm hopefully bumping up to 33's here in a week or so, but I just finished my shackle and TT lift. If yours is a sport you should be able to run the 285's. I have a lot of room even before I lifted it with the 265's. But sports have larger wheel wells so i don't think you would be able to

Thnaks for the reinsurance

Makes me feel a lot more confident knowing you have been running that size.

Mine is not a sport. Its an XLT from 1998. So i guess going as big as 285 is a bit of a risk.. I will stick to the 265/70´s..

All i have to do now is to decide what rubber i want on it..

Its either going to be General Grabber AT2´s or the obvious. BF all-terrains.. But there is a hefty pirce difference in these 2 tires, so im not sure what its going to be yet. I know what i want.. But my wallet wants something else.. :p:

Thanks guys! I appreciate it.

Ole

a friend of mine has the general grabber, they're pretty nice...just like BFG AT's. At worst You might have to trim the lower valance if anything to clear 265's, i just know that sports have larger front wheel wells.

Thanks!

At worst You might have to trim the lower valance if anything to clear 265's

First off. What is the "valance".. I have no clue what that is.. Can someone explain that. (sorry, but english is not my native language)..

And 2. of all. Im running 255/70/16 now.. going up to 265 doesnt seem like that big a diff. I think the ones a have still look pretty small compared to the pics i have seen with stock susp. and 31´s .. But maybe thats just because of the 1 inch larger rim i have. But there seems to be plenty ofclearance in the wells..

Anyways. i havent ordered tires yet, for those who knows it, had a angine ticking suddenly after an oil changed, and i skipped the tirechange until i knew i didnt have to spend money on the engine.. But now im focusing back on the tires..

I really am thinking about getting 15´s .. Cause. They just look a lot better than the stock 16´s i have.

i have to consult my financial situation about that with the household ruler.. a.k.a. My Mrs to figure this out.. Hmm..

the valance is where your fog lamps are. On mine since it is the older front bumper is alittle different. With 265's they'll be alittle bigger and wider at the same time. When i get home i'll take pictures. and hopefully i'm going to be picking up a set of 33in super swampers today. i'll take a pic with those too

By the end of today I'll have pictures comparing my 265/70/16's to my newly bought 33x12.50x15 superswampers

Thnaks man

That would be awesome. I really want to see it.

Also with those big a** ´swampers. Pics are always nice. :)

Here's me with them side by side, and then on my SportX

Cragar makes great 15s for a low price, they'll add a little weight being steel, but definitely tougher and easier to come by for tires. If you're getting 15s might as well get 15x8s so you can upgrade whenever you decide to lift it.

Love those swampers...

Thanks for the pics! :)

Looks awesome with the swampers on it. But they must be pretty damn noisy on the mighway going 60.. :p:

Ordered the tires today..

General Grabbers.. 265/70/16.. :)

Cant wait to get them on. The road tires i have on now, are old and tired.. And i will get them on before the weekend, so me & the Mrs. are going out to the mountains just outside Madrid to have fun in the small mountain roads.. ! :D

Thanks for helping out, guys. ! ;)

Got them on

nd its incredible but i actually can feel a difference in height in the truck. I dodnt expect that bumping up from 255/70 to 265/70.

They dont really look that much bigger. But it looks more nice with the rough pattern in them.. And i find them incredibly quiet on the highway. Not any noticable change in noise.

So. All is great.

Thanks for helping out!
