Stock 91 X w/A4ld: Dropped tranny pan and changed the filter then closed it up and refilled trans, next I ajusted the bands (torque to 120 in. lbs.-back off OD 3 1/2 - back off intermidiate 2) nothing new been here before. So here is the problem--now it is binding up in reverse and in drive almost as if there is a brake on the drive shaft, but if you put it in overdrive it feels and drives normal. I have only test driven about 1/4 mile and I am sure something is going to give if I push it. I re-ajusted the bands again and same result. Very curious! Any one been here?

the same thing happened to me when i went messing with the bands i am pretty sure you may have them to tight..i went throught the forum and asked the same question over and over again untill i had some people pissed at me..lol..and there answer was that i had them to tight..try to back them off some more and hope it will fix your problem..thats just my .02 so give it a try..it seems like the A4LD bands are touche to me..you have to get them just right..

hopefully someone will chime in if i am wrong but thats how i fixed my problem..i just kept messing with them untill i got it right..took me alot of test drives and alot of time under my rig..Good Luck and please let us know how it goes..hope i can be some help

...It might be very useful information if someone would do a step by step "How to" adjust the bands on the A4LD..;)

...For those of us still running these tranny's, the good information is getting harder to find...
