Yep. It looks like the cost will be as for two rebuilds.

Can someone tell me about Klune V? Please... Many ppl mentioned this t-case but what is so good about it? From which truck and behind what engine it came from?

The Klune V is an aftermarket gear splitter that is installed between the tranny and transfer case. It is basically a second low range. The benifits of running one is you can choose from several gear reductions. You can have the stock high range, stock low range, double low range or 2wd low. It was never used in a production vehicle. Its strictly an aftermarket item.

IT'S DONE

Well, I am back in CA and I picked up my Ex today. What a ride. The shifts are much better than the A4LD and the first gear is awesome.

While we were there, my wife was looking at the Atlas II cutaway display and asked what it was. I explained it to her and then she said that would be great behind the 700-R4. When I told her the price, she looked at me, smiled, and said Happy Birthday! It's being shipped backed to Washington as that was cheper than paying CA sales tax. I got the 3.8:1 ratio with 1350 non CV's outputs front and rear. All I have to do is get my driveshafts modified with the 1350 ears and install it. I may not have it done by Moab, but I will damn sure try.

So this will also work for the '95+ers? I would imagine that you would need a computer from a manual.

I am going to use my auto computer and instal resistors into the wiring to fool the computer and make it think that the A4LD is still there. I am not sure how the 95 and up computers controll the tranny.

We want pics:D Congrats Kevin, glad you're wait paid off:thumbsup:

Will this work with a manual transmission computer??

Yes, it will work even better with a manual tranny computer as it isn't looking for the current when it energizes the the 3-4 shift solenoid or the TC lockup solenoid. That is how it knows to throw the CEL light on if it doesn't regiser the current, than it thinks there's a problem.

Can i give your wife my home number so she can call my wife and explain to her how this stuff works! Man, that is great, sounds like you've got a killer setup. Can't wait to hear how it works on the trails.

Ok, so give us some details!! I assume that Bow Tie Overdrives finished the TV cable. How much? Where did you get the shifter from? Does it come in black? It looks like the adapter is right on schedule for the beginning of August. Is there an official release date? Let me know where you find a 1350 yoke for the d44, I've been keeping my eyes out for one, but they seem to go for $70 used. I think advance has one, but I'm not sure on that.

My d44 already has a 1350 yoke on it. I am currently using a 1310 to 1350 adapter u-joint to mate the front driveshaft to the pumpkin.

As far as the details, they aren't out yet. They still have to go through their corprate chains to work everything out, but I will go through my papers an let you know everything I do.

I just wanted to thank everybody on this board for their input on this project. Special thanks to Kevin. Not too many people volunteer their "pride and joy" for these types of projects. Also Thanks to Rick. If it was not for Rick, this project probably would not have happened. The Atlas for Explorers should also be credited to Rick. I hope you guys appreciate the pressure he puts on us manufacturers to offer products for you guys.

thanks again,

It's great to see that this swap is completed. The 3.06 first gear will make a huge difference! Chalk up one more sorely needed drivetrain option for Explorers and Rangers. Good job Advance Adapters and thanks to Kevin for volunteering. :bounce:

I hope to have a wife as cool as that someday :)

forget the resistors, run a 5 speed computer. Some minor wiring changes will be needed to make it function properly...

Cant wait to see this sucker in MOAB, though I will likely go C4 next go around since she will then be mostly a trail rig.

Can I ask, what was the grand total?
:)

Yes, what was the total?

As far as the computer. I am still running the stock auto computer and no wiring or resistors were changed for that function and it has yet to throw a CEL code. I don't think it really cares about the tranny. I drove 1100 miles with o problems and am also getting about 50 more miles to the tank of gas.

As far as price, AA has a tentative price for the adapters and I wasn't told what it was. Call Vic at AA and ask him. I paid roughly $1500 for a new 700-R4 tranny and the shifter. You will also need new fittings for your tranny cooler lines and also a flexible dipstick.

The exhaust Y-pipe will also need a little work, either a pice of flexible pipe or a welded in piece to widen it a little to fit arround the new bell housing.

The whole thing ended up being about a half inch shorter than stock. On mine it rquires a shorter front drive shaft since the d44 pinion is loger than the d35. On the rear, depending on he ammount of lift you have, you should be okay. On the front, If you still have a stock d35 you should be okay as well.

New Picss

Here are the best pics I have. There really isn't much to see as it is a tranny and most of the good stuff is burried and I am not taking it apart to get pics.

These first ones are of a stock throttle linkage.

And here is the TV cable at the same angle

Another angle of stock linkage

Same angle of TV cable
154dsc00170.jpg

And here is one more angle of the TV cable that best shows the linkage
154dsc00175.jpg

Here is how the stock starter is bolted into the adapter
154dsc00176.jpg

Here is what AA did to modify the exhaust to fit arround the bell housing
154dsc00177.jpg

Here is the wiring and relays used to control the electronic shift t-case. There is another way to do it where it takes much less wires, but this was to make it work like stock.
154dsc00178.jpg

And here is a pic lloking forward from underneath.

Like I said, most of the good stuff is hidden, but I will try to get more when I install my Atlas.
