Ive been researching and some answers i couldnt find, SOME people say they didnt both swapping to a 5 speed ecu and some did? does this actually matter? Will i need 5 speed driveshafts? i dont know if theres a length differance, and can i get a FULL list of everything needed or a link to a good swap thread. thanks for your time guys

dave

this is a first gen 93 sport to btw

I am still using my stock auto ecu with my 5-speed swap with no problems so far. and you can use your factory driveshafts. Just make sure you get the right transmission.

If you swap the a4ld to a manual and don't switch to a manual ecu you will need to somehow make the computer think you still have the al4d solenoids.

You can do this by either leaving the solenoids connected to the harness (and just tape them out of the way) or replace the solenoids with 23 ohm resisters (might be 33 ohms, I'd have to find the specs of the factory solenoids) which is what I did when I removed the a4ld.

With the resistors or solenoids connected the computer thinks you still have the a4ld and will be happy.. w/out it, you will get a code saying the solenoid tests didn't pass.
