Ok so I decided to rebuild my valve body. I didn't add a shift kit but I did upgrade a couple parts along with cleaning the whole valve body really good. I upgraded the boost valve to the one with o rings. I got the new solenoids mast kit which includes two new solenoids and a sleeve for the 3-4 solenoid. I also got new VB upper and lower gaskets and long with a D ring kit for the reverse servo. Oh and a TCC screen.

I put everything back together with a new Filer and pan gasket. Went for a test drive. It seems to shift really good from 1-3 then you can see the touque converter lock up, but no OD. I was doing 65 at almost 3000 RPM. Anyways, anyone have any clue what the problem could be.

Oh and I did check and triple checked that the wires were pluged in before putting the pan back on.

Thanks for the help guys.

What problem did you have prior to rebuilding it? Check the solenoids through the wiring harness without dropping the pan. You could check it either by unplugging the case connector or by unplugging the PCM. This will rule out the possibility of a bad connection to the solenoid through the wiring.

Before I rebuilt it I was having flare problems due to a blown out vb gasket. I was also haveing problems with the Torque converter staying locked when coming to a stop. Those problems seem to now be resolved, I just don't have OD. The Torque converter lock up and 3-4 solemoid share the same ground and I can tell that the lock up is working. I will do some more digging tonight.

I am wondering if I didn't line up the holes on the new sleeve that came with the new solenoid (The one with the screen). I didn't have that sleeve in my orginal VB. Is there a specific way that sleve needs to be line up when u put in back into the VB? I read the A4ld VB rebuild but was not able to find see that there was any specific way tat needed to go in back in there.

Ok so I was able to get it to shift into overdrive today. Looks like if I start off in D and then get up to speed and move it to overdrive it will then go into overdrive. I also noticed that driveing not very fast on back streets I was able to get it to go into overdrive by its self sometimes. It also still seems like the TCC is staying locked after I stop, but only sometimes and then once I start to move it will let go and I can sometimes here it clunck when it lets go, the rpms will also go up when it lets go. So I know there is power going to the solenoids. I don't know I am lost with this. It still seems to be a VB issue, or not. I just don't know anymore. Anyone have any ideas?

It might be possible that you reversed the solenoids when you reassembled it. This once happened to somebody else on this forum. He described that his TCC seemed like it was engaged all of the time (hard starting sometimes), and his overdrive felt like it was acting in reverse too. He went back to recheck his work, and saw that they were reversed.

ok well it looks like I will be droping the pan again here in the feature. I think I am also going to pull the transfer case and clean the govoner really good. I am a delay in shif in the mornings when cold. I guess this is what I get for sturring up all the old crap in a transmission with 170,000 miles on it.

Ok well now I have no drive. It tries, but you have to rev it up and hold it there. I have a new rebuilt valve body coming tomorrow from Central Valve Bodies. I am going to try that, but I think it is done. I droped the pan today and got the old vb out. There was no peices in the pan or anything. Anyone think it could just be the VB not providing enough presure?

I will call and ask them about that. I did find a reason why I had no OD though. I tested the solenoids and the tcc clicked and the 3-4 did not. It is weird as they were both new, but oh well.

no I didn't I don't have a tester for that. It is just weird because it was driving really good on saturday morning (minus OD) then I shut if off for about 10 mins. I go back out and start do drive and noticed I had to press really hard on the gas to get it to go. Then it got werse and bearly would move. Reverse is great though. I am hoping the forward clutches are not shot. What do you think? BTW thanks for all the help. You have helped me more then you know.
