dude the pictures on your explorer page don't load for some reason. Maybe it is just my computer but check it out.

I just checked, and the pages load ok. They just take some time 'cause they're large. If you don't have much ram, it'll take a while

Mine didn't come with any fogs stock. It had plastic filler panels. I asked about getting them put in when I bought the truck, but Ford wanted $250 or so, so I did it myself with better lights for under 100.

Do you have any good pics of the lights that you installed? How do they compare in light output to stoxk ones, if you have comapred?

Thanks....

Here's the link to a pix of them. Disregard the pricing underneath them, you can get them for about half that from Summit.
Dead Link Removed . As for light comparison. These are true fog lights, not driving lights like what come stock, so I really can't compare apples and oranges. For fogs, they work very well. They have glass lenses in them, not plastic. Besides, they have a 23 year warranty on EVERYTHING!! :D

Mounting

Jeff, I have a 1998 X and am going to buy a 99 bumper off bumpers.com or something. I heard they bolt up exactly, but anyways, how did you mount the lights inside the hole, and/or do you have any suggestions as to how I should go about doing this. Thanks a lot.

Catz Fogs

Hey,
I got the Catz MSC fog lights for my 2000 explorer and they fit PERFECT. They are top of the line lights so they run like $190 but definately worth it and much better than stock. Like Jeff, my Explorer didnt come lights either. I had a 4X4 place install mine for like $50. They have a really neat white/blue type light which looks sharp.

For mounting the KC's, there is a plastic bracket that runs from the front edge of the fenderwell to the bumper on an angle. Just behind the fog light hole, it bends so it it parallel to the bumper. I just drilled a hole in it, set the fog light bracket at 90° to the light, and bolted it in place. The nice thing about the KC light is it fits exactly in place without having to do any custom bracket work at all. It's a little bit of a pain to get the bolt in (cramped quarters), but I think it took me about half an hour a side to mount them. I'd post a pix for ya, but I still don't have a digital camera. I have a roll of film in the camera that only has a pix or 2 left, so I'll go out and snap it and post it when it comes back from developing.

BTW, the Summit Racing part # for the KC fogs is KCC-487 and I got them last March for $95.69. With a 23 year warranty on EVERYTHING, you can't go wrong!!

OK thanks a lot. Another question is, if you guys know, I was going to order a 99-2000 bumper from bumpers.com and put it on my 98 to replace my current bumper. On the bumpers.com website, they call it a bumper cover though. What do you guys think I will actually get if I order it off bumpers.com?? Also, I just realized I don't think they have the color I need for the front bumper which is like that gray color they use on fender flares...

Plenty of 'em will fit.

I have a set of PIAA 1100x driving lights in the slot in the bumper. I also have a set of PIAA 510 driving lights in the factory fog light position. I modified the plastic piece that is there on X's without factory lights. I then bolted the 510s to this and then it all screws in with the factory screws.

Here's the mounting for my KC's. This is a shot in through the left wheelwell. The large hex head bolt in the center of the picture is what holds the light in place. All I had to do was drill a hole in the support plate and bolt it down.
