Since it got cold here last week my ex has been experiencing a rough start, die, restart give gas for minute and then it will idle at fluctuating speeds. So I went looking through the forums and founf some possible culprits. IE, The MAF sensor, IAC, and Throttle Body. Today I had the time to get out and clean them in some lovely sunny 18 degree weather... The IAC was no problem at all getting to and cleaning. I got the MAF sensor no problem. However, when I was doing the throttle body, I heard a crack(I didn't know how to remove the throttle cable so I left it on) while I was spraying the cleaner and wiping it down. I looked back appearantly a snapped a plastic cover to a wire thats attatched. Now when i apply pressure to the pedal it doesn't move at a gradual pace. It seems like a press the pedal down and its stuck for a moment then it goes... So what did i possibly do? :(

dude it sounds like you broke the throttle linkage... If you could get a pic posted we may be able to better understand what you broke and help you out with what can be fixed vs what should be replaced. If the throttle is sticking now tho I would say you should replace the TB and linkage. hard to say with no pics

Problem in the first place was proly IAC solenoid plunger sticking. Some years Ford recommended AGAINST cleaning them OR the Throttle Body. Mine had a decal warning against it. Solvent-based cleaner screwed-up some kind of protective coatings, I think.

If so, now you got a couple additional problems, may need to replace parts. imp
