2008 Ford Explorer V6 2WD manual air (has knob that you turn from hot to cold)
SYMPTOM:
Had clicking noise in dash by shin and only hot air.
PARTS:
Local autozone gave me Dorman 604-213. This did not work for me and I did the work in their parking lot and tried 3 of them.
Drove to advanced and they sold me Dorman 604-209 and it worked. Looks identical to the 604-213 but I'm guess the connector pins are different.
TOOLS:
8mm ratcheting wrench
8mm socket with swivel adapter.
NOTES:
-I took apart original actuator and noticed broken teeth on a plastic gear. I also used the opened original to verify that the actuator was in fact getting power by watching the motor spin.
-I only removed the rectangular panel down by the drivers right shin to remove this part. It's definitely tight but goes pretty easy.
