Allaa's 2008 Explorer XLT 4WD V6

I have to say I'm very impressed with what you have accomplished with your Ex. What did you do in order to dyno it though? Did you remove the front drive shaft?

Thanks Sean

Regarding disabling auto 4x4 you just need to remove fuse #33 ABS pump 30A and the Explorer become 4x2 (applicable in 4WD models)

I'm curious, how does pulling the ABS pump fuse disable 4wd? And other than the ABS light coming on (I'm assuming here), does it cause any other issues/or codes?

The auto 4wd monitors wheel spin through the ABS sensors.

in 4x4 Auto mode, the 4x4 is actuated by AdvancedTrac® with RSC system when needed

by disabling the ABS pump you are disabling AdvancedTrac® with RSC system completely and you will get a theatrical alarm with a massage to service RSC now, and the truck will become 4x2 in the 4x4 Auto, and 4x4 in 4x4 high

note: if you pulled the ABS pump fuse while the truck is running, then you can engage 4x4 low
but if you pulled the fuse while the truck is off then you will not be able to engage 4x4 low

I am going to pull that fuse today and hope it solves my front ABS sensor issue until I can get it replaced this week. My Ex keeps going into 4wd on dry, straight roads. Frustrating.

Today I ordered ScanGauge II for $144.21 from Amazon.com after hearing lots of good usage of it from lots of members over this forum :D

Great pic's mate, hope you have a good time with the scan gauge. I've only heard good thing's about it too.

Thanks mate, I hope so

Last night when i was going back home the alternator quits on me, I think half of the coils burned up. I had to stop the A/C and keep the revving around 2000-2200 RPM so the alternator would generate enough power for engine and lights.

today morning I went to ford dealer to buy new one, and for my surprise he have only Motorcraft re-manufactured and no new OEM

It costs me $162USD and I install it right a way in the parking-lot and everything is back to normal.

You will like the scanguage II  Did you purchase the blendmount kit as well (for mounting it to the rear view mirror) or do you plan on mounting it elsewhere?

hopefully by the end of this week or the week after I'll finish installing the winch with the light bar and lights

for an unknown reason the harness off the transfer case got tangled with the drive shaft, now my Ursula is a setting duck with out 4x4 :(

I tried to get the harness form the local ford dealer but it turns out that they don't provide. :banghead:

so I ordered them from GaryYeomansFord.com through fordparts.com

6L2Z-7A786-BA
8L2Z-7A786-AA

hopefully they come soon
