Maybe im just a complete idiot but I tried this and blew fuses left and right. I took the ground wire (black) from the corner bulb (the one that is never blinks) and I spliced a wire that connected it to the green/white wire on the blinker (this wire causes the blinker to blink). After I did this I blew the fuse for my turn signals. What am I doing wrong here?
here's my question, if you can hook it up to where they alternate when the parking lights are on, and not alternate when the parking lights are off, why can't you hook it up to where, no matter whether the marking lights are on OR off, the blinker will alternate???
Does this make sense to you??
Is it possible to "Split" the ground wire coming out the the marker light and splice it to not only the turn signal wire, but to the power lead also, so it always has power when the turn signals are turned on??
I hope I have not confused the H*ll out or everyone.
I just tapped into the ground wire for the turn signal. I think this might be my problem. I think I have to cut it and leave the ground wire going back into the harness unconnected. Does this sound right?

I understand what you're talking about. I think they would have to be on to get full time alternating. When on they're interrupted when you turn the blinker on, but when off, they aren't in use, so no interruption would occurr, causing them to blink with the running lights. It's kinda hard explaining this but if you want full time alternation just keep the running lights on full time. I guess you could also wire the corner lights into ignition so they go on when your X is on.
ok heres my imput...
I have a mod where the signals flash a lot faster than normal. I really hope it works when I do this alternate mod. If it works with both mods, I'll let people know. I hope the electrical system doesn't fry.
does anyone know how to get the small corners to be brighter than stock on 1st gen? also if anyone knows the company hyperblinker...they make blinkers that act as strobe flashers for your 4 way flashers...does anyone know how to make 4 ways flash in a strobe like pattern?
can this be done to a 2nd gen. explorer? And when you say to connect the ground wire and the turn wire, does that mean you have to yank the wires out of the lights or just cut and split them there?
it's been a while since this post has been updated but has anyone seen that the flasher flashes much quicker when it is just one side then when the 4 ways are on? If you use this mod do you need to install a heavy duty flasher and if so what type. Be advised I also tow a trailer and when I did this it made it like a strobe flash it was so quick.
lol, it seems so simple but people are still confused after three pages! Not that I think I could do any better (I'm a pretty dumb guy) it just makes me laugh...
Edit- I haven't even tried it yet so I have no room to talk.
