Hey guys, long time lurker! What do y'all do with your switches? Right now I have 2 button switches hanging (out of the way) on both sides of my steering wheel, and I am looking to make it seem like its supposed to be there, but i'm having an issue with deciding what switches to buy and where to mount them. Any of your advice would help greatly!!

So I'm looking at getting a roof rack / basket and mounting a bunch of lights to it for my 03 limited Exp and was looking at how much power it would draw and was wondering if the stock alternator would have a problem with it. Currently looking at a set of lights that when all powered up would draw 60.5 ish amps (not including anything factory).

It's important to note that unless you further modify your center console a 6 switch panel will not fit due to brackets behind it. I now have have to 3D print a panel that will snap in but give clearance for all 6 switches.

what?!?!? There is no bracket back there. The problem is the curvature of the console itself.... and if they arent connected like mine its not an issue. Admins, is this guy a bot or something???

I'm definitely not a bot. I recently purchased a 2004 Ford Explorer and looking for more info on them I found this forum. I know there are two brackets there because I cut a hole out only to find out that I can't fit my 6 rocker switches in there. I've accounted for the curvature of the console so that wasn't an issue and if you go with less switches it becomes even less of an issue. There's a bracket on each side that restrict the 1st and 6th switch from sitting and it's actually pretty tight to fit the switches in there with the heat duct. I'm going to 3D print a mount for my switches which will actually work better than my original plan.

Here's my explorer. Also, for someone who joined a little over a month ago it's interesting that you're so quickly to insult a new member just because they had a different experience than yourself.

I have a 52 inch above my windshield and have 2 lights on the roof pointed out the back,
Tradami that's a nice Explorer what lift and size tire are you running

Thanks mcclain.
It's got a 3" block lift on it. I bought it as you see it so I"m trying to make sure everything was done correctly by the previous owner. The tires are 285/75/17. They rub though on the fenders so I've been searching for a solution. FYI I've never had or done anything with lifted vehicles so I'm pretty new to all of it.

Starting out with a good looking truck
I'm wanting to do a 2.5" and then get some 285/75r16

I'll get around to throwing up a pic of my lights

Those wheels are great, they look like bronco wheels. Are they cragars or soemthing?

Thanks guys. The wheels are "Pro Comp Alloy". I think I'm going to start my own thread and make a long updated project of it.

Sorry no offence meant... it just seemed like an odd question. And thats 13 months not a month. But The only issue I had behing there was the plumbing for the heat vents at the back of the console. This is police equipment type stuff, but would solve your issue. I'll be running something similar for my switches and coms equipment. http://www.strobesnmore.com/2002-2005-Ford-Explorer-Vehicle-Console.html

this is the company that makes them.... and these are the plates that go on top. The plates mount to the various consoles and are interchangeable. It lets you really customize the consol for your needs. I'd have a row of switches for lighting, a row of switches for power to things and maybe lockers/brown wire, a spot for my cb, and definitely a cup holder.
