Another OHV M90 build

Your exactly right on the not pushing it thing. Im on the fence with it. But hoped to put it on, and log and experiment. Might be a bad idea though.

I looked at pulley boys, but to ship a pulley to me was $200.00. That is crazy. No way.

Ok, so if 2.8 is smallest without machining, the 10% pulley must be a 2.8.

Omg that is crazy.i got the one from ZZPerformance. Its the quick swap with 3.2 and 2.7 for think $140 shipped.im grinding down my snout myself,as they wanted like $85 to do it at the port mans shop!!

Before I forget,
Under wot at 5200rpm, my iat's were 192 degree's.
after the wot pull, iat's showed about 140 at around 2000 rpm.

O wow.was going to ask this.what was ambient? Man to me those sound high,if you had a smaller pulley on there they would be even higher.

I really have no idea. I don't know. Some of the heat will be from the manifold though. Ambient? Its maaybe 60 degrees outside.

I have a story to tell, bear with me.

I drove home, and on the last stretch the idle was working. Excellent I say. I want to log unplugging my iac while the idle is working.

I get home, plug in the laptop, and start logging. Under the hood I go, and unplug the iac. Idle goes way up. Ah, I say. Now, I plug the iac back in. Guess what? Idle won't go back down.

Ok, the iac has an in and an out...or is that an out and an in? Maybe the air flow in one direction isnt allowing it to work properly I say to myself. Lets flip the iac to the other end and see. I pull my tb, and flip the iac. My wiring is to short. Figures.

So, I get out the wire, soldering iron, and heat shrink tubing. I couldn't find my wire stretcher, so this would have to do.

After getting everything back together....I hold my breath and start the engine.....

PERFECT IDLE!!!!! SHA-WINGGGG Lifes good baby! Lifes good.
Hardware issue. Who knew the iac had a right way, and a wrong way to install it?
Here's the right way to install our iac's on out tb's.

O haha i could have told you that haha

I didn't know there was a right, and wrong way to install it. They can go either way mechanically. Doh!

I honestly didnt know they could go both ways.but ive seen them in Explorers and mustang's so i knew witch way it goes.lol atleast you found it and it was simple

Yes, and it didn't stop the tuning process. James figures another couple of wot pulls and some minor tweaking and I'll be done.

I checked max boost ever registered by my boost gauge, and it shows '10'. Wow.

Huh do what?? Your seeing 10 lbs of boost?thought you said 5? You sure thats not boost stacking?sounds like it to me and thats not a good thing

Do i hear headers and high flow cats.....lol

Also it may be off just for the pic but having that hose off the fill neck will cause a vac leak

that hose goes from the oil filler neck to the intake. Vac leak? I have been driving with it like that for a couple of days. This weekend I'll be taking care of that filler neck issue. I thought that was always supposed to be able to suck air, just preferably filtered air.

I'm not sure when that gauge hit 10 psi. At wot, I only saw 5. I have seen higher, but I never noticed it hit 10 before. Not sure when that happened.

I'll be starting the brackets this weekend also. Get a few things hung, anyway. The coil pack will take a bit of work.

Id be betting my exhaust is a bit of a restriction. My son thought the blower sounded kinda sucky. That kinda tells me the factory exhaust just doesn't have that throaty sound.

Maybe I'll cut a cat out. Headers might happen down the road also. Opening up the exit side of things would help, Im sure.

Geez, it never stops. Does it?

Yea thats fine for the hose,in the pic there is not one on it.i figured it was off for the pic;) you have emissions test up there? They sell high flow set that bolts in or you could allways go my route and use "test pipe fake cats" but for "off road use only" you still all stock for exhaust? And ooooooooo yea its never over haha ;) im sure once you get it all done and he goes for a ride he will change his mind!!:)

So, whats boost stacking? Exhaust restriction? No emissions testing here. Yup exhaust is factory. Never touched.

Im new so from what i read its when something is restricting the flow and cause it to over boost or spike sometimes. Normally its in the exhaust, clogged cats or to small of pipes.its not all ways a real bad thing but with the temps you said i would be worried about detonation or alot of timing coming out and loss power.im sure rocket will know the real meaning of it but thats what ive gotten out of it.personally i would to the test pipe cats if you know or have a welder.but the high flow cats are a easy bolt in.let me find the thread about the install of headers and high flow cats.it came out really good for him.

192 @ WOT? I see either meth or a cowl hood. I have never seen 192, I have seen 124 @ WOT with ambient temps in the 90's. Which tells me your engine bay is insulating all that heat. I am thinking of trying to get a group buy going for EE cowl hoods due to how expensive they are. Don you interested?

Where is your iat sensor? Doesnt sound like its after the blower.if you see 124 at wot and its 90* out sounds like its still in the maf.that would mean you run damn near ambient under normally driving and there is no way with a m90 and no ic.most people run around 124 with a ic at wot.you know shipping on those hoods are around $450 just for the US!! no way would i pay all most a grand for a hood!

Ya, I'm not interested in paying a bunch of money for that.
My truck is old. Maybe if it was newer, but I'm more inclined to let it get a bit banged up now. People still piss me off the way they drag their bumpers against your vehicle, and hit it with their doors, really not giving a crap.
