Another OHV M90 build

4.0 ohv

Your build is looking great Dono. Congratulations.
I am kind of jealous, I have a 2000 ranger besides my two 98 explorers and would love to add a little power to the 160HP ohv.
I use my ranger as a daily driver as well as my 4 door Explorer though so I dont see it happening cause I alreay have the one 2door Ex that requires 93 oct. Gas cost enough already!
I did not know Ron made anything for the 4.0 OHV. Maybe he can start selling kits for them as well. It would make alot of ohv owners hapy!
I would love to see dyno numbers and 1/4 mile times if you get them.

We all are waiting on those numbers;-)

Yup, me two!
Tomorrow I'm picking up some 17" mustang rims. I'll get some 60 series rubber that's pretty close to stock height and hopefully end up with lighter wheels than the stock 15" steelies I'm running.
Once spring hits, I'll be ready to finish up and start getting those numbers.

Thats a darn pretty supercharger!! And same on the 1/4 mile times. Im very curious. That thing is gonna pull real nice, will be an absolute blast to drive on any terrain.

Yup, I can hardly wait to get some warmer weather.
I'll get the supercharger put together in the next week (New bearings in the snout((Of Course)).

Tonight I replaced my gas fill tube, and gas cap. Was unbelievably easy. The hoses were easy to pull off since there was so much rust under them, they had nothing to stick to. Would have been a 15min job, except the doorman tube didnt come with new hose clamps. This should be the end of that stupid 'gross evap leak' engine code.

I'll have to spring for the $100.00 for a dyno pull.

I gotta get creative to get an edge on Tim at the track. Those extra 2 cylinders on his truck are going to pull away from me for sure. Maybe I can get a really good looking girl with bigns in a bikinni to distract him when the tree lights start.

blondie burger :D and motion is just down the street from them to!

funny, i am now also thinking of stuffing evil on the dyno to see how much of a difference all the pulleys i have.

That super small pulley you have might be fun on my M90 Tim. Im just not sure that I would make it to the other end of the 1/4 without leaving motor pieces and oil all over the track.

What is tim running? Where is the thread?

Check his registry. He has some plans that he's not ready to start talking about yet.
A 2 dr modified V8.

Tim inspired me to do something to my truck today.
My initial feel with the new SC is that there is the max boost is about the same as my old one, but the boost is faster to come on at lower rpm's.
Im sure hoping it will lower iat's with those coated rotors.

Looks pretty.

Next steps will be a smaller pulley, meth injection, and a re-tune.
I dont know why my phone sometimes decides to take such low res pics.

Man I swear that pulley looks HUGE!!! Surprised it didnt make a real noticeable difference. You have a way of reading iat? Cant wait for a smaller pulley and meth!!;)

i fishing my ass! lol. now that i know what that looks like, i may have to dig once again in the pocket book and get mine done.
looks like the wideband is going back in soon. this guy ripped his out last night, just so we could trouble shoot my truck. thanks again don. btw, if you want to try any of the pulley i have, let me know, and i will drop them off.

Ya, My wife had me on a short leash today. I opted out of ice fishing as I knew I'd pay one way or another.

Tim, once you know what pulley you are going to stay with, Id love to see if one of your pulleys fit. I think even with the smaller pulley (The 2.8") I have, I'll only see around 8 -9 lbs boost. Id like to get my boost up over 10lbs.

Once I'm ready to start tuning, I'll be able logging my iat's and I can compare against old logs.

Go hard or go home!

Since the weathers warmer for the moment, and my boost is much lower since the engine rebuild (Just under 5lbs) a figures it would probably be safe to drop the 2.8" pulley on and give my truck a pull.

As expected, my boost is up to around 8lbs now. No signs of detonation.

Id like to get more boost, so I think I'll be taking Tim up on his offer for a small pulley once he gets Evil tuned and running at the boost level he's looking for.

I'm going to have to make an idler pulley and bracket to get more belt wrap before I do this. Tim has volunteered to help. I think I'll make a template out of cardboard and transfer it to a chunk of metal.

Id like to get my boost up a few more pounds. I'm amazed at how much boost dropped with the new motor. I'm thinking that the cam is flowing air that much better. Who knows?

So your trying for 10lbs? You going to add some fuel and pull timing to compensate for the higher intake temps? is your air/fuel still good with 8lbs?

That is odd.if anything I would expected you to gain boost from the coating.how much did you bore the block? Larger cylinder could lower boost.

.020 over.
I was thinking it was because the cam was flowing better. Not sure what to say.

I'm going to use water/meth to cool.

Water/Meth injection...check

Finally turned it on. It took all night to do with interuptions, but its working.
I took er for a quick warm up, and then a high boost run to see how she feels. Pretty good I'd have to say.
I'll be testing more over the next couple of days. Usually once Im off the highway and things are hot I am hearing some detonation.
I'll do some logging soon. This weekend I'll install my wideband, and log my iat's and a/f ratios.

A quick tear probably used a good half cup of juice. I'll be looking for cheap meth.

If drivability looks good with no detonation at odd times, I might just be trying one of Tims smaller pulleys. Then I'll get James to tune er up. Im kinda pumped!

Tim and I are going to have some fun at the track this summer. Yea!!
