I know it's been a while since you posted but I just wanted to find otheres nearby as well. I recently moved from Abington (right next to you) to North Quincy, about 20 minutes away. Good to see there's some other forum members on the South Shore. Unfortunately we're surrounded by city and no real trails to speak of.
I live in Marshfield, and they are a couple of easy trails done this way. But there is not groups I think for southern Mass. But there is New England Explorer Club that I am in. People are in all around new england and they do some trips in new england and used to do some on the cape.

There are a few places I go that are not too far from me but I can't get too crazy when I am by myself because I don't want to get stuck any where. What part of Quincy you live in, I used to live out there.

I'm in Squantum. I've gotta find out those places, I'm craving to get into offroading. Unfortunately my explorer is too pretty (and my DD...) to use, so it's either I look for an old beat up one to modify (possible) or just go with fellow explorers to be company/spotter/tow. Which works. Where'd you live?

I live in Brockton and I usually go offroading in the Freetown forest. It's not too aggressive but there was a few times I was out there at like 2am and I got stuck because I was by myself I had to call someone to pull me out. I doubt you would brak anything out there as long as you're truck is maintained.

Where'd you live when you were in Quincy? I looked up the Freetown Forest and found a list of some trails in Mass that I've never seen anywhere else, so I'm pretty excited to see more nearby. I found Wrentham State Forest which seems really good as well.
