I do my own oil changes and have had this same scenario happen to me TWICE now with Fram Extra Guard oil filters; i change the filter and oil, put the new filter on the same way ive been doing for 25+ years and the last 2 Fram oil filters have failed miserably within seconds of starting the engine. Seems that no matter what, the filter doesnt seat nicely against the engine and oil pours from the seal. Luckily i remembered what happened LAST time and kept the oil catch pan under the oil filter to prevent 2 quarts of oil form spilling on the garage floor...The oil filter is the PH2. Ive checked that the old gasket wasnt still left on there before the new filter went on and no other kind of oil filter leaks. This just bugs me...
