ARB another one bites the dust

Dana 60

For the price of several installs (installing warrantied ARBs) could have got you close to the cost of a 60. BTW, is the new Electric locker from Detroit available yet? It would be GREAT publicity for a disgruntled ARB customer to switch over to Detroit (Rick could be the GinnyPig) . HA!

I would rather keep my ARB than get a locker which I can't disengage. It's nice to be able to disengage the locker while traversing steep, loose, off camber situations. The one time I didn't disengage my locker in a situation like that I nearly payed dearly for it. In the same situation Paul Bredhoft's Detroit Locker started pulling his rearend down hill too.

Once the warranties are all gone and I end up breaking something I'll probably get a D60 with an ARB. Until then the 8.8 and the ARB stay.

i think that a dana 60 is over kill for an explorer 4.0 my buddy used a dana 50 in the rear of his straight axle ranger which is used in the front of the huge fords and u have to cut the axle tubes anyway so it doesn't matter about it being a front axle only or u could just do hydraulic 4 wheel turning with the dana 50

Update... 3 years later and the 2nd Gen ARB is holding up great. I've got 36s on the truck now and that hasn't even phased the 'ole 8.8". It looks like ARB got it right the 3rd time around

That is good to hear Rick!. I've been on the fence regarding locker type, and am currently leaning towards ARB. Too much snow to worry about crawing slideways :p
