Modified or not, the same applies to wheel/tire size combos. The info is provided to members so they may be aware of the consequences of changing sizes. As always the final decision is always up to the owner. Apparently, the factory takes into account the wheel size to set up various features of the vehicle. That is why some of them come with owner selectable sizes that would be compatible with different sizes to maintain vehicle handling characteristics. This is a "Modified" Explorer forum and you consistently propose staying stock or within tight parameters? I would challenge you on the "extra weight" and any effects on "ABS, TC, Braking and Suspension parts" that a 22" rim would bring. Please explain?
I could take you to task and likely find a 22 inch rim and tire combo that is lighter than a stock 20" rim set-up.
I only see a small increase in load, not a terrible problem within this question and parameters of wheels that fit in the fenders.
