Attack on Attica II

2001...I think we should just meet at Attica...I bet that would be the easiest than trying to meet on the interstate...And you really think it's gonna be a 2.5 hr drive? I'm expectin 3-4hr drive...But anyways, I'll be on my cb channel 25....

Meeting

Well, I am not going to rush. I usually don't stop unless for gas, but if I get there later then I get there later. I will also have my CB on #25. Who knows, we might meet up somewhere.

hell man....i'll wheel with anybody....where ya at? oh yeah...one more thing.....how much you gonna charge me for a skid plate, and when can you have it for me? hahahah....but seriously....you interesed in making one for an exploder? 5.5" lift, if that matters....(it'll be on my truck soon.....i hope...)

OK now, let's make a few points here. Dave, I'll call them at the Ramada so either you or Scott can check in if I'm not there. We have one spot left in our room so if any of you guys want to join our crazy bunch RSVP now!
I'm ready to go out to the park Saturday morning but Scott, you'll have to get me out of bed. I can sleep man!
As far as doing some crazy things over there, don't worry kids, nobody is gonna make you do something you don't want to. As far as rolling? well, that's up to you. If you don't know how or if you should even try something? ASK! nobody will laugh at you. Better be safe then sorry. We don't want to tow you home.
Now,
I've done some crazy things in my rig today back around the construction sites of new developments by my house. I didn't do anything extreme since I was alone and didn't want to leave my rig stuck. It's a lot better with that lift. I'm definately putting this 2" on my suspension. Now I need to make a few small adjustments to the bumpers and I'm done. Well, I'm ready, are you??

Later,
:-)

well andre....we're screwed then....cause i work second shift.....im used to sleeping untill like noon or so.....dave? you gonna wake us up?!?!

well Riff, we'll order a wake up call, that's what it's called right? and if they won't wake us up we'll sue them!!!
or let's have the rest of the guys staying at the motel blow their horns! lots of possibilities!

Later,

:-)

2001ExpSport,

Supercharger? Hell no. That would be too easy. I’m building a twin turbo 4.0 monster. I’m just about ready to start. I should be picking up the new motor by the end of this month. If you can imagine looking at your motor (assuming you have a V6), I’m relocating the battery, window cleaner and radiator coolant tank. I’m eliminating the AC unit (will be for sale if anyone is interested). Then, imagine the exhaust manifolds (actually, headers) not going down and back towards the transmission but rather, coming forward and up. There will be a turbo on each side of the block approximately where the alternator (just a little to the left and back) and AC (just a little to the right and back) are. The exhaust will be piped downward and back. The compressed air will be piped to two separate intercoolers located in front of the radiator. Then plumbed to a Y pipe then up and into the throttlebody. The fan will be replaced by an electric fan etc. etc. etc. Obviously it's much more complex then this, I was just giving you a flavor for what it will look like.

Anyway, can’t wait to see you guys at Attica. Hopefully I’ll have started the project by then and have some pictures on my web site.

Peace.

OK, I've been sifting through a million posts on this thread and losing my train of thought. Does anybody have a tally of whose going, what days they will be there, and where they are staying?

I'm still figuring on arriving on Saturday around noon or so, since I will be too beat to drive out there after work on Friday. I'm not 100% decided on lodging. I can camp, but would rather stay somewhere where there is a bed and shower. :-)

Wanderer, I didn't catch it, but are you going on Saturday morning or at a different time. I will be coming through Columbus on my way there, since it appears quicker to go that way. I'm looking at 6 hours or so driving time overall.

Riff-Try National Tire & Wheel, they shipped to me in 4 days standard.

Cameron-Well, I had no idea that was the project you had in mind. Sounds like quite a job, something right up my alley as a matter of fact. Let me know how it goes as it goes....er....something like that. Reminds me of a Toyota 4Runner we saw at Hank's 4x4 Jamboree that had a Corvette LT1 stuffed under the hood.

Tom-The dates for the trip to Attica are 14/15th of October. Some of the guys have decided to go down a few weekends early just to pre-run and mess around.

Hey guys, I bought a 40CH CB today and I am curious as to what kind of range I should expect. I bought a 4' magnetic whip antenna to go with it. Also, where should I mount it? Under the dash, on the center console? What has been easiest for you guys? Right now I am thinking of mounting it under the dash below and to the right of the column.

CB

and although mine is a '94 I have my CB right under the dash on the right side of the column. Seems like the best spot. 4' antenna should be plenty. I was thinking of getting one like it. Where did you get yours? All I have is like 2' and I'm not too impressed with the range. Well, I'm getting some pix done tomorrow of my rig after the 3" body transformation and perhaps I should wash my truck too? If any of you guys see a green Un-Limited almost entirely covered in mud tomorrow, that's me. I'll wash it after work. Still need an adjustment on the bumpers and now I got a short somewhere around a driver's side fog lamp which blows my fuses. Got to look into that too.

Well, later....
:-)

Hi guys!

Had a little problem mon night with the storms. Final score: Lightning-1, Modem-0. Anyway I'm back.

WOW, went from 8 pages to 12. You guys need to find something else to do with your time. I'm glad I don't have to travel with you guys, you're gonna get lost for sure. Christ, it took you about fifty posts just to find each other in chicago. You'll never find your way to Indiana. :)

Andre, the GM towhooks cost you 60 bucks??? I'd take them back and have them look up part number 999866 . Should cost you 18.27 for the kit, and thats BOTH hooks.

Matt, if you plan on following Riff you might want to give your insurance man a call and drop your comp/coll deductible to 0 for the weekend.

Pete, Yes tow hooks are necessary, OR D rings/shackles/clevises. Either are OK. It sounds like the setup you're putting on will be fine. Make sure you have something on the back also. The terrain is hilly and traction varies. How long it takes to run a trail depends alot on how much time we spend goofing off and laughing at Riff.

JJW, Only been there once w/ Riff and the others, so they know as much about the trails as I do. Which ain't much! I think it might be best if you were to lead, you know alot more about the area than any of us.

Riff, you're a PUTZ! Do you still have your front seat open? My oldest daughter is coming with and she needs a ride. I'll bring my handcuffs so I know your hands will be on the wheel. If not can she ride w/ someone else?

I plan to be there around 11, could be early, could be late. I'll holler when I get in the park. Probably be easiest to meet at the quarry.

I was thinking about doing the orange trail Sunday morning if I do it. I don't want to walk the whole thing so I would like to talk to JJW first since he's been on it.

Don't really want to break into two groups but I know the close to stock vehicles can't do orange, so for a while I guess we'd have to.

first off...how old is your daughter? just kidding.....

wait wait wait.....you trust me enought to let your daugter RIDE with me?!?!?!?!?! holy **** man...you've seen how i drive!!!! hahaha....oh wait...you do have life insurance on her though.....hehehe...but seriously, I think that rich was going to ride with me. and i think im even going to draw up an insurace waiver or release before i let him in my truck too....just kidding rich!

ok...heres the scoop on the orange....im going to run it, depending on if i get 33's or not. i know for a fact that my lift will be on. thats a given. i don't know, however, if i will have bigger tires by then. if i do, i will deffinately be running the orange with you todd....if not, i will probably see how it looks, and seek the advice of others to make my decision.

oh yeah....hey matt...i couldn't find the extended brake lines for my explorer online. i'll probably just get them from rocky mountain suspension...thats where i got my lift. maybe i can convince them that they forgot to put it in my order and get em for free! hehe..yeah right...

Kampy,

I have the front seat open in my truck. I am leaving the dog at home. Do you guys think that Ford would like a picture of an Explorer from the fifty yard line at Notre Dame stadium? I am going there the weekend before attica for the game against Stanford and was thinking that with all of the tailgating that will be done I will have enough liquid courage in me to crash the gate, get a pic, and get out in time. What do you guys think?

Dave
