RFR-Rich is on Harlem by Midway. I will be getting off 55 at harlem to get Rich. From there I am not sure what is easier for you or me. I don't mind going out of the way a bit.

Man, how far ya lookin out of the way cause I think it's at least a 45min drive, although it is early saturday morning...maybe something in the middle?

Well, I can just take 55 to 294 and we can meet up at 80. I will be more than half way to 294 when I pick up Rich.

Exactally...I have no idea how to figure out travel times...For this, but if there is an easy way to meet up, then it works for me.....Pete

Meeting

As far as meeting somewhere to go to Attica, it's kind of hard, you know. Some of us will already be there. If we all plan something like this anywhere next time I would prefer to meet at the motel or camp where most of the guys are staying and do it in the evening prior to heading out on the trail in the morning. With our group it's hard since some people will be there Friday, some Saturday. I hope we can all get together for a run around 1:00 PM at the latest. That will give us enough time for a little chat, pictures and a trail. As far as meeting somewhere to take off for Attica from Chicago area it's up to all of you that will be leaving Saturday. Personaly, I prefer to get there early, rest, let my rig rest and then go fresh in the morning. It's up to every individual though since some might not be able to get out Friday evening. Just my 2 cents,,,,

:-)

For those that have been there..How long are these trails? Are they fast slow? what? What kinda terrain we gonna be driving on? Pete

RFR2212,

The park is approximately 700 acres. It’s hard to say exactly how long each trail is it all depends on how much of the trail you want to discover. As far as speed goes, it’s rare to come out of first gear. And you definitely wont go past second gear. And that’s in 4X4 Lo. The terrain is mostly hard dirt and small gravel. There are creeks and sand and lots of trees. Last time I went there it was with a stock 97 Sport. Actually, suspension and tire wise, the only thing I have done to my truck is put on 31 inch GoodYears. So all you people with stock Explorers don’t worry about it. Just drive slowly and take your time. Let the crazy people (I’m talking about you riffman) go first. It’s a lot of fun.

Sounds like the terrain is excellent...I also seemed to notice that it is somewhat hillpy, which is really cool too. The thing I'm worried about is that sitting so high, is going on some sorta off camber turn and tipping, or going up a hill, bog, ect.--not have any lockers and there was something else, but I seem to have forgetten...Oh well, I guess if there is any reason to worry, I'll do that when i get to the problem....Pete

you were probably forgetting you're gearing, pete.....for most to the terrain, you will probably want to be in 4 low to get those big damn knobby tires moving....especially if you have 3.73 or lower...er...higher....er.....whatever!!! ya know? and hey....if you tip over....we'll flip ya back right!!! hahaha.....sorry...don't mean to make you nervous....

the different trail take different times. i believe that when we were there, the avg time to run the green trail was like 2.5 to 3 hours, start to finish....jjw could give us a better idea of how long they take....but they also will tell us about the trails when we get there. they will update us on any big holes, dangerous spots for the day, the weather, and how it looks, blah blah blah....

and i beleive that with the quarry and the new trail, they have expanded the park to over 1000 acres, so, YES..there will be at least a little for everyone!!

Ok...so the group that is meeting on saturday MORNING is who? are these right? me, pete, matt, and andre?

honestly i think that the rest of you can meet at the pit stop at the park. lets say at between 12:00 - 12:45.....this way...those of us who have been wheeling can get some lunch, we can all chat, and get a game plan from there. we could wait untill 12:45 then head out....any scragglers that are behind...holler out on the radio, and we can either give you directions to find us, or send someone (preferably who knows the terrain) back to get you...sound good to everybody? if you don't know exactly how to get to the park, holler out now so we can help you through that....k?

Well, I'm assuming I'd be there 11 or so, I'm leaving at approx 7 in the morning...Um, that's yeah, gearing is what I forgot, although most would be amazed at how well it can scoot on 33's....I think I'll survive:)But that accident parnoia is kinda high and I realize, we've all gotta drive our rigs home, so I should be good....I'm thinkin I may wanna take on a medium level trail for our trucks and then maybe a short bit of a hard on just for some sweet pics! .....Pete

Wow, you guys don't mess around. Thats a real good time. I take it you did shoot the tubes then 8^)I tend to play alot but will try to keep up.

Riff, remember the larger the group the slower the trail.

As far as time in minute/hour, that depends on weather, how many stucks, what hills we each take. Some times you have three lines to choose from, And backing out is NEVER an option. Not with a dozen rigs. Most tech. areas will have a bypass so not to worry. The place is really cool, just keep your eyes and ears open. And listen for OK or CLEAR from the guy that just went over so you don't land on top of him.:-)

And remember the ATV's and bikes will be there too. Nothin like an atv landing in front of you cause they had no spotter.(that happened to me last time)

I can,t wait to go. Want to see in person what these explorers can do.

Meeting at the pit stop sounds good Riff. As for the early birds. I should be in the quarry no later than 9:30.

Andre,

What time do you plan on being at the hotel at on Friday night? I want to know if you are going to be there before me or after me. I am going to leave Macomb at about 5 or 6 pm. Better yet, did you put the room under your name? That way if I am early I can still check in. If so maybe use both names so if one of us gets there early we can still check in.

Dave

jjw, im not sure what you mean by the tubes....and we didn't actually run the whole trail....that time estimate was just the one that i think i remember that they gave us when we got there.....

dave, andre....do you have room for me friday night as well as saturday, too? im taking off that night of work to come there...that way i can start early in the A.M. too.....i'll probably leave bloomington in the mid evening, depending on when you get there.....i will try to make it at around the same time as u guys....

and, yeah...those atv's are a pain in the ass!! on sunday...(after you guys had already left)...i was out on the dunes and stuff.....those things were buzzing around me like frickin mosquitos!!!! and then when i got stuck they had the nerve to laugh at me, and keep on going!! grrr....but i guess i deserved that, cause i broke the first major rule of offroading.....never wheeel alone!!!! oh well...what can i do....besides ***** and moan.....and i do that plenty!!!! Riff-Yes, I will be there in the morning. I am leaving early so I will be there. It's gunna be about a 2.5 hr drive for me.

RFR-if we leave at 7 we should get there around 10. Maybe we should leave earlier. In anycase, if you want to leave at 7 then I think I'll catch up with you at Attica. I want to leave as early as I can.

This sounds better evertime I read these posts, this is going to be a good time guys! Wish it was this weekend!!

Anybody hear from TBONE?? Nothing on my end.

not me!!! I haven't even started my lift yet!!!!
