Hey everyone. I have been parting out my explorer for the last couple months, and I am sick of the truck just sitting in my yard. So....... In the next few days I will be starting a complete transformation on the truck. I am going to put my 302, and C6 back in it. The truck will have a 4" suspension lift, and no body lift (because I already sold it). I will be completely gutting the inside of the truck. The only thing left on the inside will be the seats, and a dash. Im also going to cut the roof off behind the rear doors, and put a full roll cage in it. All the doors are also getting removed. This truck will only be used for wheeling. I also might throw a fuel cell in the back. I will keep everyone updated as soon as I start throwing it together. I am planning on having the truck ready to wheel in less than a month from the starting date. I will also be running a snorkel on the truck

Anyone have any ideas on what I should do for seatbelts? should I use racing belts with like a 5 point harness or something? I need something that is going to keep people restrained on the back seat.

I DID IT........ i cut the roof off from the back of the rear doors on back. It doesnt look quite like I had figured, but I will deal with it. I also stripped the entire interior tonight. The only things left are the seats, and the dash; everything else got thrown out.

my digital camera is broken, but I will try to borrow one from one of my buddies after work.

so my buddy decided to pawn off his camera so he could go buy beer a few weeks ago, so I will try and stop by my parents house later and borrow their camera.

I havent gotten anything else done on the truck. Its kinda hard with going to school from 7-3 M-F, and working 3-8 everyday of the week. The 302 will be going into the truck this saturday though. I have 4 guys coming over to my house on saturday, and we are going to slap the motor and tranny back into the truck. It should be running by sunday.

What we are using:

302 from my 89 thunderbird
3.8L Thunderbird Radiator
2-10" electric cooling fans
MSD 6A Ignition
Mustang long tube headers
C6 Tranny that I just got back from being rebuilt
Borg Warner 1356 T-Case
Stock driveshafts (amazingly, these actually fit)
Motor mounts, and tranny mounts that I fab'd up
Mr. Gasket Floor shifter.

After all thats in, I just need to throw a Tach on the dash, and add a temp gauge, and It will be ready to go.

We are going to make a body lift out of square tubing for the truck also. Im thinking 3-4". I had a 3" BL on it before, but a "friend" of mine decided that I wasnt using it anymore, and he came over and removed it when I was at work one day.

Updates as soon as we get underway..........

pics!!!

I got the motor dropped in over the weekend. I didnt start hooking it up yet though. I will start hooking everything up sometime this week, or next weekend.

No more progress yet. I spent all weekend fixing my camaro. I blew the entire top end of the 305 on friday night while I was going about 140 down the highway.

Still no progress. Been working on the camaro alot lately, and trying to finish things up at school since its almost the end of the semester. Iv been preping the camaro for a 400hp 350 which is getting dropped in this friday.

You've been through about 12 vehicles since I've been on this board.

Sounds like you've got an all-star lineup for your current selections. What are the plans for the cage?

Not really sure yet. Progress is on hold until I get some more money. Iv been buying a lot of stuff for my camaro lately, so the explorer will just have to wait.
