Auto lights not turning on

Hello,

I was wondering if I could get some help. I have a 2000 XLT with automatic lights. All of the sudden, the auto lights are not auto anymore. They do not come on automatically anymore when it gets dark out. Go figure, I have to turn the light knob now.

Do you think that it might be a fuse, or something else electric.

yeah bro. check the switch on the auto-dimming rear-view mirror. If it is all the way left it will deactivate it. You gotta push it right until it clicks, then it should work. If that doesnt work, then I dunno...

i second the above. i didnt figure this one out till just recently. i didnt want my battery to run down, so slid the lever all the way over so the lights didnt stay on. turns out it turns of the entire auto system.

I hate the auto lights, nothing but problems.
People always get in and drive, the interior and headlights are no tail lights! At least this is how it works on my parents Touareg and Benzo, friends Lexus too...

I say leave the auto lights off! I like to control my own stuff personally...

410, those are 'daytime running lights.' Auto light are different. They turn on and off depending on the resistance of photosensors. daytime running lights are a pain in the ass cuz people leave them on and then when it gets dark, they think their lights are on cuz the front and interior lights are on, but their tails are still off. But I agree, just one more thing to break, like the pop-up lights on my buddies fiero, those things never work....

Well my parents Touareg turns on the headlights and the interior lights when its dark out, no tail lights....yeah makes alot of sense to me too.....it has no daytime lamps

the auto headlights are just like turning your headlignts on. all marker and headlights come on. there not DRL's.

ha, yeah my buddy is rocking a fiero. He actually collects them. He had 6, then went down to 2, now he is back up to 4. The one he currently runs as his daily driver is actually kinda nice. The original paint is 2-tone red and silver is awesome condition. It has the v6 5 speed and a big yellow fiero sticker that looks like a ferarri badge. It is pretty funny. OH, and it has the sound system upgrade!! Which is a slider that when turned up, it sounds like someone has a dixie cup upside down beating on the bottom of it.... HAHAHAHA, that is supposed to be the stock subwoofer. It is the dumbest sounding thing ever. But I digress...

my dad purchased a 96 Fiero GT before they came out, wicked little car, errr it was supossed to be anyways. Mid engine, fiberglass body, it took him all of 18 months to realize its a PONTIAC and he traded that sucker in on a 88 RX-7 Turbo II, a much faster and better car

Thanks again for the help. You guys nailed it. I have been on these forums for the last 3 years, and I always manage to get the answer from someone.

That Fiero off topic was great. I saw one the other day and laughed. Someone tinted up the windows and put some spinning tires on it. Can't do anything but laugh.
