My truck does the same, so I think this is normal.

However my boss' 2010 Cheby Silverado 2500 does unlock when shifted to park and it is a nice feature, but also a hassle if you're dropping someone off and not going to "park" the vehicle, lol.

Yes

Yes. The Auto Unlock feature didn't become available until the mid-2000s. I disable them both anyways.

I disabled this feature to save the lock mechanisms from excessive wear.

I kind of like the auto lock since I have the kids in the car. It's only a real pain when I'm getting them out. Oh well, can't have everything in a 13 yr old vehicle

I have a 2000 Mounty.. My driver's doors will auto-unlock when I put it in park. Is there a way to configure the computer to unlock all the doors instead of only the driver's door?

my car unlocks the front driver and passenger door i believe. But it is a pita when i forget to unlock and I walk around the vehicle to let my 13 month old out of the vehicle. lol

The 3rd Gens dont have this, and im not sure if the 4th gens do either.

When you use the interior handle on the front doors, it will unlock the door as part of the pulling procedure. All 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gens do this (i dont remember if my 1st gen did).

I know this is an old post, but, Yes this is normal for all Ford products, but this was extremely aggravating to me so I did something about it:

I spent 4 hours MAKING a "unlock in PARK" switch in my 2016 center console shift F-150 first, then did it in my wife's 17 Explorer. For those of you that will say I can change this in the driver info center, you're wrong. Ford does not have an Unlock when shifted into park function when the engine is running. I had to put a wire on the inside of part of the shift lever & hook it to ground since the inside shift hardware is all plastic. then I put another wire on the hardware on the side where the first wire slides across & hooked that to the negative trigger door unlock wire. It works perfectly. Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference.

Yes, its outline In the Owners manual. You can turn it off and on.

"You can turn it off and on."
/\ You're able to do that on YOUR 95 Pete?? Mine, although acknowledgine each step in procedure with proper horn chirp number etc does NOT end up doing anything. (Which I've read more than once on our forum does not work) I hit up Ford about it from safety standpoint (in accident scenario where driver is knocked unconcious and now rescuers have to deal with LOCKED doors) hoping for that reason they would unprogram it for free and they stated they would still charge me to try and probably wouldn't be successful in disabling it after their efforts due to setup / old tech of vehicle.

Yes, I set my too lock. It one of the features of the keyless entry. It in your owner manual with the car. I also change the access code too my own code. It never loss the code I added, even when I have the battery disconnected

As a rescuer, a locked door is a non-event when faced with an unconscious occupant. I’m immediately taking the window.

I personally do not like the doors auto unlocking in park from a security standpoint. Same with Auto Unlock features for all doors when I use the key or remote.

You have not experience someone walking up to your car and try to open your car door. Once waiting in a parking space, and another time pulling into strip mall, every slow speed. I also had walk up from the rear of my car and hit the window.

I have, and that’s why I don’t want my car to automatically unlock the doors. Auto lock? Fine. Unlock? Nope.
