Yes, you should be able to turn them off by sliding the mirror control all the way to the left. Try squirting some electrical contact cleaner in the slot on the mirror and moving the control back and forth a bunch of times.

I'll pick some up and try it thanks!

Ok, new question on the autolamps... I can't find any switches for the headlamps except the standard "off - parking - on" switch. nothing to adjust the autolamps on/off or the length of time they stay on after parking the truck. Am I missing something?? LOL

On my '97 EB, the "timer" for the autolamps is set with a horizontal slide switch on the rear view mirror. On my wife's '98 Navigator, it's done with a roller switch (like the insturment panel dimmer) next to the headlight switch. Hope this helps; good luck.

THATS what that slide is on the mirror! I was thinking it had something to do with the Mirror.. can't imagine why I'd think that.. LOL

My Tbird has the roller switch next to the headlight switch. Like the panel dimmer switch it adjusts down to a very short delay, and at the end of the "roll" it shuts off the autolamp feature. Was looking for something like that on the Explorer.

this town sucks for finding anything ..I got some map sensor cleaner I used on the RX8 this thats safe?
