2001 Ford Explorer Sport
I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport. I am replacing the automatic transmission shift cable and I'm finding it super hard to snap the cable into the side of the transmission and on the end of my shifter tube. Is it supposed to be this hard?

It should just snap on
Try using some needle nose plyers to help

If it doesn’t snap on some this is fishy
Should snap on, pretty tight being a new cable, and should easily release with a flathead screwdriver

I just did this on my 01 f150. Not sure if it's the same as the Explorers but I had to use the part that connects to the transmission from my old cable it can be removed and adjusted. There were how to videos. The part that hooks to the shifter was too small on my new cable. I had to take a drill bit and ream it out a little (very little) at a time to get it to fit. Hope this helps
