Autozone Cheap Lift Kit

haha.

Alright guys. Need some advice here... i'm looking at curing my sagging issue on my 2001 explorer, i've seen a youtube video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNP_6iCOl90

and i'm thinking about doing it. They sell for about 20$.
Has anyone done this that may be willing to share their experiences with the kit? it looks pretty cheap... but if they work, i can do this this weekend and feel much better about the 'sag' issue. :p

EDIT: Ooh, also, if the rear ends up sitting about 1-1.5'' higher than the front, will that hurt anything if i wait to do a TT for another week or two? (i'll just be driving to and from work until then, which is 5mi a day.)

Thanks in advance!

here's the link to the part...

I would pick up a set of add a leafs before I would go with those cheap shackles. They look like an accident waiting to happen.

Shackles will just make your flat flatter in time.
The cheap AZ shackles will last long enough for you to think they worked, I guess. I bet they rust out real quick though.

You really should look at either this

Or, you might find enough leveling from a set of monroe sensa trac load adjust shocks.

In other words, I would address the arch, instead of pushing against the flat.

Thanks guys!! Awesome info!

I was a little wary of those shackles, they do look pretty cheap...

another question... would it be okay to do both the shackles AND add a leaf?

for example... could i do the shackles this week, AAL next week, and then TT the week after? I won't be driving much in-between, just to work and back.

ultimately i'm looking at getting 2-2.5'' lift and being able to run 31'' tires with no rub (hopefully?)

Yes- I had an AAL and shackles on my truck when I bought it. Took off the AAL though, as it rode like a pinewood derby car... :)

I guess wait to do the TT right before the alignment, as twisting will cause your tires to wear poorly until you have an alignment afterwards. Don't drive a lot afterwards until the alignment to save your rubber.

Awesome!! Thanks again guys! I'll post pics here when i get it started!

I have been running those cheap shackles from Autozone on my 93' for over 2 years now without any issues or complaints. I got the extra lift I was looking for and it was cheap and easy. I always said I would buy better ones or do an Add-a-leaf later, but have been pleased with the results of the cheap shackles.

I also use my Ex off-road on a regular basis and flex the rear as much as possible without trouble
