- 2000 XLT AWD
I'm putting this out there because this could have been a horrible disaster. I have a 2000 AWD XLT that was parked on a slight grade tonight. I'm talking less than 5 degrees. My wife got out of the truck to keep the kids from getting eaten up by bugs while she knocked on the door to wake her sister to open the door when the truck started to roll. My wife took off trying to stop the truck and it fell into huge ditch and spun sideways. It was then laying on it's side up on 2 wheels. She twisted her ankle in the process of getting to the kids. My youngest was in her car seat still is okay. My middle kid was still in his seat belt and his arm is a bit sore from bumping it but otherwise okay.
My front axle is installed. I know the danger of removing the front axle on a AWD as I've been reading as much as I can on this truck. Visually the front axle is fine because I inspected everything yesterday due to a issue with a whine in the front end. I've got the truck on level ground right now and I've been pushing and pulling on it trying to get it to come out of gear.
To be pissed is a understatement. Ford WILL be getting a call from me ASAP.
