ok, well i bought that 96's rear end and pulled it. took me about 3 hours with the tools i had right there in the yard.
got the rear end, calipers, an extra metal line off a different truck also since it was in better shape, have ALL the E-Brake wiring all the way up to the pedal! the rubber lines that were on the rear end, and another sett of a different truck there. and the rear struts and lower bracket off the same truck as the rear end.
you ready for this, $75 bux out the door!
i even got a interior drivers side inner door panel. (my handle area broke like is typical)
been a busy day, but i think for the amount of crap i grabbed, im doing pretty good. i plan to go back, and get a 2nd gen brake master cyl, and brake boosted. then i need some new disc's, pad's, and e-brake shoe's.
and here's a new one ive never seen mentioned!! once i ripped out the rear end, i remembered the ford aerostars had ALUMINUM driveshafts. so i dragged the X's driveshaft around and compared it to a RWD aerostars. was too short. found a 4WD aerostars. guess what? exact same length, and like 1/8th the weight. the input at the trans was a slip in, instead of bolt on, but that just involves popping the U-joint, and swapping ends. easy power gain!! thats better then A aluminum flywheel mod!!! so that will also be bought on my next trip out there!
