bad headlight switch?

i have a gen 1, i have no dome lights at all, instead of explaining that.... when i pull my head light switch out, my headlights come on but nothing else, i must rotate the switch counter clockwise to click it before my das lights come on, is this correct? bad switch? some other problem?

Do they dim at all, or just come right on and not allow you to dim? Sounds like my problem, dimmer switch. I just replaced it. It was working for oh, 5 seconds, before the new one crapped out too!

no dimming, just turn on, i thought when you turned it it turned on your dome lights? like i said i dont have any so dont know about that
