bad torque convertor?

Hello! First time on this web board. Been reading for months, I hoped I wouldn't have any probs! my 94 limited 2wd has been making very loud tinging noises from the torque convertor / flexplate area. I'm sure it's not a loose heat sheild but its the same type of noise. only when truck is cold and speeds up with engine revs. disaster awaits? appreciate any info. thanks for the help.

Sounds like you might have a broken flexplate. It is not uncommon for this to happen (on any automatic). It will require removal of the transmission, but I suggest you get it looked at soon in order to prevent damage to the transmission.

Any suggestions on additional replacements while I'm in there?
i.e. new convertor, tranny cooler. I hope to be able to pull it apart next weekend, time permtting
