Battery/Alternator issue? Help.

Found one. Another quick question.. alright to use outside or should I take the battery inside? What worries me is taking it from the cold outside into a warm house.. I don't need it to explode or something..

Its perfectly fine to use outside. Just keep the charger dry and the battery well ventilated.

Good luck ....

Like leave the hood slightly opened? And disconnect my cables too?

I appreciate all the help you guys have given me btw.

Terminals are coated in paint, I wonder if it's conductive.

Clean the posts real good-use water and baking soda
or
dump a little coca cola on the terminals-scrub with a wire brush. You do have a wire brush?

edit
before you ask why

the coca cola has sodium in it-which will react and neutralize the battery acid around the posts-

did I beat you with the edit?

I did--ha ha

Oh, there's no corrosion or anything like that.. everything is clean. I got new battery terminals (the metal connectors on the end of the wires) and they're coated in paint. Black & Red.. I was curious if it was conductive.. if not.. I'll have to disconnect the battery cables.

I was thinking of disconnecting both wires and having the charger just connected to the battery.. But from what people have said here.. that could cause damage to fuel injectors n whatnot? (no power to vehicle) If that's the case, then damage has already taken place....

What's your opinion on this damage from a dead battery? IMO, it's no different than if I accidentally left my headlights on all night.

Haven't gotten the charger yet, I have to pick it up tomorrow.

just go charge your battery and quit worrying.

then tell me the answer to my question. it will tell me how long your battery needs to charge, I need to go to bed.

I'll update you on this situation tomorrow after I get the charger.

Hey-
I already rewired my wideband sensor-pulled 2 data logs and took my kid to school.
took delivery of a set of wheels and tires, made coffee, and banned 2 spammers.

get your charger hooked up yet?

Not a whole lot-:D I was able to get a couple hours of sleep

Hey-check this out. You ought to take 1, just 1, tylenol PM. Then, on your computer is a start button, if you click it you'll see a "shut down" option

you need to use it kiddo. I say this in a respective way. Get some sleep.

Go lay down and think of the things you want to do and you'll be out before you know it. You are too young for grey hair.

Haha.. nah.. sleeping right now isn't an option for me.. I tried already.. layed there starin at the ceiling thinking about **** that pisses me off.. blah..

I'll just stay up until tonight.

I do not like pills, the mere sight of them makes me want to throw up. (drug abuse issue in the past) No good.

How long do you suppose the truck could drive with just power from the battery?

Either way, the garage I'm going to use isn't too far from here.

Here in your post is a problem, or will be in the future. Don't ever cut off battery terminal ends and replace them, especially in high demand locations like the North. The connection inside the new bolted on terminal connectors will lessen, from corrosion. It is very common to have no starting power with a fully charged battery.

It is possible to obtain a good connection with those bolt on connectors, but that is rare. I have had one on a vehicle that didn't need fixing(91 Explorer XLT).

I suggest that you open up those connections after a voltage check, and re-clean and attach them. If you keep them, keep a regular check of the voltage at the battery, and the battery cable on the other side of those connectors. You should be prepared to replace the whole cable for each of those. I would replace them with Ford cables now, but that's me, I hate those things. Good luck,
