Mine lasted more than 6 years. From May 95 to October 2001.

I had 2 dead cells in mine right at 2 years old

I usually replace batteries every 4-5 years just as cheap insurance, but have never had one go bad on me, so I am not sure. But I had to vote for 203 years, just cause it sounds cool!

Average that I've every had is 3-4 years. But it depends on a lot of factors. How often you start it, average temp in your area and quality in the first place. Normally battery life is measured in re-charging cycles.

i HAVE 3 oPTIMA'S
1 red top for my truck, going on 4th year
1 blue top for the boat, first year, but it will go a week of vacation on the boat with lights, stereo, fish finder, and outboard 2 stroke before it even shows signs of getting weak.
1 red top, back up for boat, on 4th year.

I had one Optima go bad on me after 2 years, problem was my old electric fan, killed it. Optima replaced it for $20.

Optima's are like K&N's, if you care youshould have one.
I am lucky I get them cheap since my buddy works there, but still they can be mounted upside down, they are tiny, they last forever, and they just outperform all the other batteries I have tried, if it;s a snowmobile, a tractor, a car, or a superduty, it should have an Optima.

I`m running a 203 year battery that my great great grampa had in his.... welll ya, anyway:D

I have had one battery that was 3 years old when I bought a car (by date sticker) gave me another two years, giving 5 total.

My last vehicle was an 88 ford mustang with a battery that lasted 7 years! (brand new battery when I bought it and finally had to replace it just before I sold it. When it died, it died hard too.)

Certain factors come into play here, like running your radio when the car is not running, forgetting to turn your lights off a number of times, or running HUGE lights off-road at night to turn night into day. Weather can be a factor too, especially if you see cold winters and hot summers.

I only think mine last so long because I never run stuff off them them with the motor off, and I haven`t tried any big lights yet.

.yeah I edited it

I just replaced my stock battery a few months ago. The only reason it went bad was because I drained it too many times. I play my stereo at work for up to 5 hours sometimes so I expect my battery life to be fairly short. Right along with alternators. :p

My dad had a stock battery last 12 years  in his Ford Courier.

The battery in my X is at least 6 years old and still strong.(Canada energy brand, was in vehicle when purchased)

The original batteries(Motorcraft) are in two of my families X's. They are from 1992 and 1994! And still strong......:)

Another battery we had since 1994(Globelite)in our F150 just died this year, after sitting for a long time inactive. It was in there from 1994 too.

We have had very good experiences with batteries, except a Napa one that only lasted about 4 years......

I average 2-3 years even with my Optima Red Top, I want to go with a Yellow next time

i would love to see a 203 year old car battery :D
did they invent it "just in case" somebody invented the automobile some day. then they would have a way to start it ;)

i never had a battery die. i replace them when they start to get weak

The stock one completely gave up after 4.5 years. I expect my Diehard Gold to last longer.

ive had my battery last over 4 years in my last 3 vehicles.

I repplaced the original with a new DieHard earlier this year. The original was showing weakness.

Yea, most good brand batteries will give you a sign before they completely give up on you. The trick is not to ignore those signs.

I didn't vote in the poll, but I think you meant 2-3 years, not 203 years. If a battery could last that long battery companies would go out of business.

LOL I fixed it....:D

The original battery that was in my '95 lasted 7 years. Pretty good lifetime. I hope the battery in my new X will last that long too.

I bought my Explorer Sport new in '94. It has 120,000 miles on it and it still has the original battery! That is 9 1/2 years! I have never done anything to the battery other than clean the posts. My Explorer always starts on the first turn of the key. Not bad!!!
