The water was only because the rain fly wasn't tied down properly. Tied down, the fly extends past the outer edges of the tent. Because it wasn't tied down, water ran down the edge of the tent, got inside, and pooled in the middle. I suggest we try and get into whichever campground is closest to the wheeling trails Dan knows of...
Camp Nesoudnahunk would be the best access for the off roading trails all four days. I have a sample map of the area HERE. The dashed roads are off roading trails. The camp site info is here. They say they open Mid June but this all depends on how hard of a winter there has been up there.
