Bed Extender - Which Will Fit?

Here's the mod project I did to the F-150 extender to make it the same length as the ST.

Hey I know this is an old thread but if you all still check this I'd like some help. The link seems to be expired but I'd be interested to see your mod. I just bought an extender from an 04 F150 eith the same model number. It's way too wide and too long so in going to wrap some ratchet straps around it and try to compress it a little to get it to fit widthwise. Also going to try to take the braces off, shave a few inches off the ends, redrill and slip braces back on.
Is this what you did?

If you have an extender like the one I bought recently, I don't think you can compress it enough to fit. You'll probably have to cut it and splice it back together somehow. I'd try splicing it using conduit or exhaust pipe and either bolting or screwing it back together. And I believe the part # everyone tends to use from the decal is for the decal itself, not the extender, because it's the same # regardless of the size and style of the extender.

I don't know why nobody caught this years ago, but the OP had the extender upside down in his top pics. The locking pins are on top when it's flipped onto the tailgate.

Thanks for the input! I may try to find another one that maybe a little shorter in width before I go cutting this one up although I did only pay $20 for it. It's in super great shape too. Did you end up getting yours to fit?
Do you happen to know which specific F150 har a shorter bed width?

I just bought this one for parts. Only paid $10. I have 2 ST extenders ( and 2 STs) and an F-150 extender that does fit, but 1 of them is missing a locking pin. I'm almost certain the 2003 and earlier F-150 SuperCrews use the same tailgate and the same extender as the Sport Tracs.

Copy that. I appreciate the help!

I know this is an old thread but i just got 1U5A-19G299-AA I have 203 sport trac xlt, and the extender does not seem wide enough , i stil need to buy the pins but do not see how the push pins will do not lock into the holes? Is this the correct unit for my truck, why doesnt it fit?

It's my contention that part # is for the label, not the extender because that # is on all the bed extenders I've seen whether they're for a Sport Trac, F150, or whatever. The extender will seem too narrow until you get the pivot bolts in place. The pivot bolts stick out about an inch or a little more on each side, so the extender is roughly 2" narrower than the width of the opening.
