BENT RIM [fixable?]

Just got back from the tire shop and they said my rim was bent somehow. Happend from wheeling..... They couldnt get the balance right on one of the wheels and thats why I have the vibration at 65mph+ So they moved the wheel to the left rear and it isnt as bad now.

So the question is do I get 1 new rim or is it possible to fix a wheel? If so how much should I expect to pay for repair?

Thanks

Is it an steel, or aluminum rim?

Aluminum rims aren't really repairable - you risk cracking them when you try to put them straight.

Steel rims are repairable - pound straight, or just replace.

Your probably best off replacing the rim.

As for what bends it, curbs, railroad tracks, potholes, crap like that can bend it if you hit them too hard, and the tire was low on air (doubtful, but you never know..)

I believe its aluminum. Not what I wanted to hear but I guess ill have to get a new one. Will the vibration cause any damage? Its not bad with the rim on the rear axle. Maybe just cause uneven tire wear.

Is this a common thing with aluminum wheels or wheels in general? My pretty ARs might not be up to the abuse. Oh well...... It still rolls

thanks..
