I'm looking for a 31x10.5/15 or a 31x11.5/15 tire that is as good as it is on the highway when cornering as it is in a foot deep pit of mud, any sugestions?

That's impossible. Sorry to tell you. It's either one or the other.

A mud tire is a mud tire and a street tire is a street tire. If you want a tire that can perform on rocks and and sand and the street, consider an AT tire. But no AT tire can handle mud.

no!, what about something in the middle with an agreessive look then? lol

What do you think about the Mickey Thompson Baja MTX ?

Why not just get a mud terrain? You can get Procomp X-terrains, or Goodyear MTR's, or a less aggressive super swamper that will do good in the mud and still last you many miles on the street.

Ok thanks for your help, I've done a little bit more looking any opinions on the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/As ?

The BFG ATs are great tires, and better on the street IMO than their mudders. However, they have a difficult time cleaning in sticky. thick mud; they do fine IMO for an AT in thinner mud.

For a more aggressive tire that's still very streetable, look at Procomp XTerrains. That's what I'm running now and am very pleased. They don't wear as well onroad as the BFG ATs, but still have a good 40-50k treadlife. They have a more aggressive, directional tread which helps out in "loose" terrains. However, their directional pattern means you have to run an AT spare if you go more than 50 miles from home, but that's not a big deal. The XTerrains are somewhere in the middle of an AT and true mud tire, with performance overall in between as well.

thanks! , I will be shopping around for both of them I'll probably end up buying the BFG's becuase I know I'll sadly end up on the street way more than in the dirt where I want to be :( think I shoudl get 11.5's or 10.5's?

Do they offer 31x11.5? With stock rims, definately get the 10.5. If you're going with aftermarket rims, depends on the backspacing and your lift.

Can I put the stock rim's on those tires (31x10.5/15)? I'm sorry but I am VERY new to this. I have a 96' XLT and I actually happen to like my stock rims :)

Yes they will fit your stock rims just fine.

Thanks to everyone who replied and dealing with my newbie'ness, you guys just saved me a good bit of money on some over expensive chrome that I don't need and a long lasting road/off road tire :D

I bought in on the rave about the BFG AT KOs... they are a decent tire, semi-aggressive look and handled snow adequately as well as being streetable with a lil noise.
I haven't had the opportunity to test them in much else unfortunately. I was a lil disappointed in their wet weather gripping, but perhaps that's any aggressive treaded tire? As a result, I'm in the market for something that does a lil better on the street, with the ability to handle other conditions within reason. It may very well be an "either or" arena though and you just need to maintain space in the garage or basement for either set when not in use.
I should've rotated them more, but now the fronts are a lil thin and looking at my options.
My ears are open, and I'll try to review some more of the boards on the subject over my brief lunch break.
Happy Holidays. I'll have to hang a giant sock off the garage roof for Santa to drop in 4 tires. ;)

Yes the BFG AT KO's are not what some people on this site they are

I will never purchase a set again. They are overpriced, vibrate like a mud tire, and are TERRIBLE in the mud.

If you must have an aggressive tread with decent highway manners and good tread life, try the Dueler M/T. I have alway run A/Ts, primarily becaise of all the highway driving I do, but these tires don't make me want to run back to A/Ts on the next set. You definately know you are riding on an M/T. Braking is less, noise is more (but not bad), and handling is less responsive. But they ride excellent. I am ver pleased with them and highly recommend the Duelers to anyone wanting a mud, but also driving alot of highway.

Mine were great wherever I took them, and the fact that they were small and I'm only 2wd played much more of a factor when wheeling than their ability. I was very pleased with them on the road too, and sold them to a board member who's very happy with them.
