Biggest tires for 22"

I plan on getting some 22". I have no intent of lowering or any other mods to make the rims fit. 265/35/r22 doesnt seem to fit the wheel well enough for me. This one X caught my eye with 285/45/r22. But alot to seems to say that a tire that big might cause problems. What size do you reccomend to fill the wheel well up good and not have to make any other modifications

What year Explorer or Ranger or whatever you're driving? Standard answer for a 1st and 2nd gen Explorer is about a 31 inch tire. 265/35 is a nominal 29 inches. 285/45 is a nominal 32 inches. I don't know what sizes are commonly available, but I would think a 285/35 or a 265/45 might be what you are looking for.

If you look at my thread with my 22's on it, those tires were 265/35 and when turning the wheel completely, there is a 1" gap between the wheel well and the tire. I would honestly stick with them to avoid trouble.
