I had mine powdercoated black. They were glassbeaded to remove the old finish and corrosion. It is very durable.

Many have just used spray paint. They also make a spray paint just for wheels. I think Duplicolor makes it. I guess it is just more durable. Just be sure to prep good, use several coats, and then clear coat and it should hold up. If you search around you should find some threads about it.

I personally will be buying cragar soft 8's.

Which wheels do you have?

For what powder coating will cost you could by some Cragar Soft 8 wheels.

You can paint them but paint is not going to hold up.

I have the stock ones for my 97 explorer, 15" alloy. I just bought brand new tires so want to keep the rims and tires

you might want to shoot Turdle a PM and see what he would charge you to powdercoat your wheels.

I used the wheel paint found at most auto part stores. It has held up well. The only issue I had was when I got new tires put on. A little of the paint started coming off around the bead where the tire slid a crossed it while mounting/dismounting. Other then that it has been about a year and a half and still look good. It is all in the prep work before painting that will get the results. I also used a little roofing flashing to stick in the bead to keep the over spray off the tires. It is a lot easier then trying to tape it all off.
