Heym thanks to you all for your response!!! They all look great. Do you guys like your explorers with the black coated rims?? Im thinking of getting some instead of my chrome.

i was never a fan of black rims, but i really like every X in this thread with the black. they really do look nice.

Just my 2 cents, but DON'T DO IT!! Black rims are so freakin ugly.

If you are going for looks, then stick with the chrome. Black wheels (or rock crawlers) are popular with off-roaders for two reasons. 1) They are cheap. 2) They are pretty easy to beat back to a basically round shape on the trail.

Of course, the popularity of these wheels has caught on with the "wanna-be" offroaders also. This is why you see them so often on rigs that you know never go offroad. They can be a cheap way to make your rig look like it see trails, when it never really does.

I like mine for off roading, as they are easier to repair. I would rather have a good set of Alloy's as they are sharper looking and lighter weight, but if you damage one off roading there almost destroyed.

This probably confused you even more. Do what you want, they all look good. :)

I love mine, mostly because I don't have to worry about dinging them up or worrying about scratches and stuff, and the price was pretty nice, but I like it the most because of the tuffness of them.

i HATE them...but they were cheap. i will be getting alloys when i get the $$. they look ok, but i never liked black rims.

I want to see some black cobra wheels on a black truck

Personally like the black rims, it gives ya that tough offroad look, but don't listen to me I also like convertables so I'm in the process of cutting my roof off and installing a roll cage!

I love the black rims on my X. I use mine for a lot of off-roading so they get used the way they're meant. However, my X also looks like "show" when its clean and waxed. I've had people tell me how they hate black rims (and ive said i hate black rims-- but for cars) but they love them on my X. A guy at work went out and bought them for his Red F-150 after we put them on mine. I suck at posting pics in threads but check out my avitar or look in my photo gallery... theres plenty of pics dirty/muddy AND waxed for show!

IMO- do what you want and dont listen to anyone else. Everything ive done to my X is because i WANTED it. I like my rims, i like my hood scoops, i like my decals (except i took the 4X4 off cause i didnt like it). and other people like those things but people tell me they dont like them and i tell thim i dont give a flying F___ what they like cause its MY X. So find some rims YOU like cause you're driving it and YOU'RE spending the money.
