I have a ‘17 explorer and the heat is stuck on hi heat. And dual zone stuck on. I ordered a blend door actuator from thewrenchmonkey ca but it was the wrong shape. It is a doorman brand stamped 604-228.
My question is am I trying to replace the right part or is it not the actuator that is the problem? Am talking about the one in this video. Or is it a different part that is the problem?

Edit-I took the actuator apart and used the gear to make sure blend door wasn’t stuck. Moves freely and slowly rotates back to full clockwise position.

Fyi. My vehicle has auto control and dual zone. And looking under the drivers side I can see another one up top right side. Not sure what type that one is, if it is same as the passenger side actuator.
Edit-just tried it after got it back together. Now I have cold air on drivers side.
And before I worked on it, my buttons on console wouldn’t respond. Only was able to change from defrost/main airflow/or foot airflow from the sync screen. But everytime I tried change temp on it, it would automatically go back to high temp on sync screen. At least I have drivers side cold air back for now. So I am guessing the drivers side actuator is the one that needs replacing?

Follow up. Did change the left driver’s side and passenger side actuator’s but still stuck on high heat passenger side. Found that the doorman part mentioned above fit the very top one under the driver’s side. That one is to select defrost/main console airflow and floor settings. Pita to change, very little room. 5 hrs later with 1-2 clicks at a time on the ratchet got that one done. Still no change.
When done that one, battery was low so disconnected battery, charged installed back on. Low and behold needed to disconnect battery for passenger side to get good.

That would seem to indicate it was an electrical and not a mechanical issue. Thanks for the update. Glad it's working again.
