I've looked at a lot of blend door fix posts, but haven't seen a problem like I'm having.

1996 4.0 OHV Explorer

When control is on heat, I get heat, but doesn't seem to be as "hot" as it used to be.

When control is on ac, I get no cold air at all, feels like it's on heat.

When control is on max ac, I get cool, but doesn't seem to be as "cold" as it used to be.

Is this a symptom of the blend door and/or the motor and/or something else?

thanks

The (oh so beloved) blend door.
Mine is still like that... some day I'll get to it.

I think you have two things going on.

1) The blend door
2) Your A/C might need a bit of a recharge. It should blow cold on max A/C even if the blend door has failed.

Thanks all. Looks like it's not too much trouble to pull the blend door actuator and check for proper function. I'll do that first and then cut the hole in the bottom of the plenum to get at that darn door.
:salute:
