I traded my '00 3.0 Ranger for a friends '01 Explorer XLS 4x4, He Brought it down from New York so it had some pretty bad rust damage.
He showed me a problem it was having when braking, right before it would come to a stop it would pull to the left and pulse like it was catching against the ABS tone ring or something like that (but would not activate the ABS light or throw any ABS codes), the rotors and pads where worn and the rust damage to the calipers was bad so I decided to replace the front rotars, pads and calipers first then do the rears later.
After doing so, the brakes felt like they still had allot of air in the system and would not tighten up at all so I tried bleeding them again, after a test drive I realized the front brakes where not working at all, I tried bleeding the system over and over thinking there was still air but they would not improve.
I have since replaced the master cylinder and the ABS mod./brake pump assembly but still could only get the front brakes to about 20%, the rears are still doing moats of the braking and the pedal travles almoast to the floor before it starts to brake and still feals veary spongy.
I have considered it could be a problem with the new calipers but how likely is it that both are bad.
The only thing I haven’t changed is the brake booster, any suggestions?

When you changed the master cylinder did you bleed it by itself?
