The broken ones are easy to get out. I did not have to disassemble anything on the axle. If my memory serves me correctly I was able to get the stud behind the axle shaft and then I could mess with it a little bit until I got it into the hole. I think I was able to get the end of the stud and then rotate the axle shaft a bit and feed it the rest of the way in. I then just used a couple of washers and a lug nut to pull the stud into place.
