car is stuck in ON position - it will crank the car up, but then you can't shut the car off, its also draining the battery since you can't get out of ON mode

does this sound like a bad ignition switch or something else? key seems to move very "freely" through the positions

Key moves through all positions but
The truck won’t reach off via th e ignition switch?

It sounds like the key and tumbler is fine if it moves through all of the positions and your issue would then be the ignition switch which is mounted a little further down the steering column
Need to drop the column to access the rod and switch takes 20 minutes

That’s not it

Pick the link I sent from rockauto

2005 ignition switch is like 01-04 not 07-10

i was watching this video here...i have a feeling this is what ill have to go through

Sopunds like it's the accuator I've replaced many over the years, the steel pin falls out of the main plastic part.

Not a biggie once you do this enough it only takes a few Minutes to have the column out

The older Columns with the pushrod on the outside were so much easier

it took me 3 hours of work today, and I couldn't even figure out how to get that big plastic spring-loaded arm out that moves the ignition switch lever.....it's in the middle of the lower steering column and held in by that pivoting metal lever that sits inside the shift tube, held in by a pin

i couldnt figure it out, not that i had that part on hand anyway

defninitly not going to take it apart again - realized you can just use the switch on the ignition switch itself to turn the car on and off easily

what a stupid design

it broke where that metal pin on the toothed arm goes into the loop on the 2nd plastic piece - that loop broke

if anyone has some tips on how this thing comes out im all ears
