Using the Forum's handy 'Search' feature (upper right corner) I found this thread and merged yours with it.
The end of the antenna just screws into the base. Perhaps post 6 will help. I was able to get the garage door to pull back a little more with some adjustments.
Good luck.

here are some pictures of what broke off. is this something i can do myself? Im assuming i need to take out the roof headliner somehow? Is some welding gonna be needed here? here are the pic

Ouch! That wasn't what I expected to see. Most casualties involved a broken antenna extension, not the entire base. I'm guessing that in order to reattach the connection you would have to remove the headliner. Not sure how to remount the base since the attachment has itself been pulled through the sheet metal. I'm guessing part of that attachment to the roof supplied a ground. Any chance that you can bend the the outer edges back in place to resemble the original hole?

i was very unlucky to hit the antenna on the exact spot as the metal garage door handle. ripping it right off. i think i would be able to bend some of the sheet metal back, im just wondering how much work it takes to get to it from underneath. my main worry here is getting it fixed correctly so no water leaks into the car from that spot..ive never attempted removing that roof stuff before, and I dont have the service manual for this truck yet.

I think some have removed the headliner that you might find doing a 'Search'. There are a couple of members that have the service manuals and who may be able to help. Turning in for the night.

i ended up going to a small independent body shop for this. the larger ones wouldnt fix without repainting the entire roof, and charged double the rate i paid as a result of that. they did have to take down the headliner as you said. they fixed the sheet metal and put paint on that small area.
