Where is a good place to get a brush guard from? and what do you guys have and how do you like it?

i want something black, and one that extends out over headlights. Main reason i want one is so if a deer runs out in front of me i can plow into it and hopefully still be able to drive home. deer are very bad out hear and i almost hit them on a weekly bases

no one has a brush guard they can recommend?

I had a Westin and took it off. I like the look without them better. I don't think they make them anymore for the first gen explorers, but you might have some luck on ebay or other ranger based forums.

hmm... maybe i'll hit a few junk yards and see if i can find one

you need a bumper like 91exploreron37 has

i was thinkin about putting a grille guard on my sport but i am not to sure

i just want something to mount lights to.

ok so i want it to look cool to

I used the stock bumper on the last two explorers. Until I made a custom one for my current one

As already mentioned Brush guards (and other accessories for 1'st gen explorers) are getting harder and harder to find. While other vehicles have lots of manufacturers making stuff the whole Explorer - Firestone - rollover crap put a huge damper in after market support.

Many Grill/Brush guards are not structural and only give an appearance of strength. Since you indicate you want one for crash protection (with deer). I would strongly advise you to get one that is beefy and frame mounted. IMO Manik made one of the best..

For ultimate strength you're best bet would be to have one custom made Kennesaw Mountain Equip

ok, thanks for the info guys

You an do like what the previous owner of my truck did, take a used brush gaurd from a full size truck cut it down to proper width and make mounts for a nice over sized gaurd.

You can always check your local Craigslist also.
