Building a sub box...

Just curious as this is my first custom system in an explorer.

Anyone have any opinions about subwoofer aiming in the explorer? It seems alot more guys have theirs pointed towards the roof than the hatch... Just curious if there is a particular reason why....

i pointed mine directly at magnetic north....... just playing. there are acoustics to the inside of any vehicle, and where you aim your subwoofer takes advantages of them in different ways. very low frequencies are ommnidirectional, but higher ones are not, so you gotta bounce them off something to get them where you need them. usually, aiming only affects the 100HZ and up range. plus, if your box is very close to the hatch, you can get a slot-loaded effect out of a cheap swap meet box.....
